I forgot to mention how easy it is to get rid of old stuff here. We're on 12th Ave, which is a busy road. Wendy had the idea of putting the old tiles and parquet flooring out beside the street with a sign saying "Free". I figured it would be a waste of time but didn't say anything.
An hour later, it was all gone. The next day, someone actually came by the house asking if we still had any tile and flooring left! Boy was I wrong!
The next weekend, we put out our used lumber - the stuff we had torn out of the lowered ceiling in the kitchen. Most of it was gone the same day! Sure beats the heck out of hauling it to the dump, and I'd rather see it re-used anyway.
