Both Wendy and I took a week off work this past week and really worked hard on the house. We were often up until after midnight each night.
Things are really starting to come along now, and we've started on yet more things. So much of the house is now a "construction-only" zone, that we're now all down living in the basement suite - 5 people, 2 dogs, and 6 cats in 800 sq ft!
What's force us to do this? Well, upstairs we're getting ready for the drywallers - they'll be here on Wednesday, so the upstairs has had to be completely emptied out. I'm still not quite done working in the bedrooms yet, but I'm close - the wiring is now finished off, and there are just a few framing bits left to nail up. Tonight I'll get those done, and also start on the insulating & vapour barrier.
Meanwhile, Wendy decided to tackle refinishing the fir floors on the main floor. We plan to sand the upstairs floors too, but they're in pretty good shape already. Downstairs, the floors were so bad that we thought we might have to replace them with new flooring anyway, so we figured it couldn't hurt to practice our technique on them.
The floors have come up beautifully! The kitchen has been completely sanded, and it was a real mess before (pictures coming soon!). The living room and hallway have been sanded with low grit (16) sand paper, but still need the finer grits done.
The upstairs bathroom is just about done. It needs a bit of grout work done and then the toilet and sink can go in (yay!!)
And finally, the hot tub is running, so at the end of a long day, we can have a nice relaxing soak!
