And the Walls Come Tumbling Down

Our drywall bin was delivered last Wednesday. We promptly filled it about half full with all of the drywall that had been lying around the house, but since we get pay the same regardless of how full the in is, we had lots of incentive to tear down more walls in order to fill it.

So that's what we did. Down came most of the drywall in Wendy's room and everything around the chimney in the basement suite (it actually looks better now, exposing the chimney and the original wood beam). We also pulled down all the drywall in the main floor stairwell, which exposed an original piece of fir trim on the staircase. The trim was mostly untouched - an 8 foot long piece of 1x12 clear fir - worth about $200 now!

By Friday night, the bin was full - 7 cubic yards of drywall. Everything that came out of the back basement suite was wet and mouldy. What a stench!

Today the bin is being picked up and tomorrow we're supposed to be getting a 20 yard garbage bin from Cromwell. So for the next week, we're going to be shovelling garbage. Fun.
