Today, I called Litterbug (www.litterbug.ca), a local disposal company, to enquire about getting a bin from them for our old drywall. We got a bin from them last fall when we did our initial demolition because they were the cheapest place around - $250 for a 7 cubic yard bin. Well, since then, their rate has gone up substantially. Because of us. When I called them, they remembered me - I was the guy that filled their bin so effectively that the dumping charge was $212. After wages and gas, he lost money on that load. As a result, they re-evaluated their drywall bin charges and now charge $425 for the same size bin.
Oh well, they offer a 10%-off coupon when ordering on-line, so their rate is still very competitive, so I went ahead and ordered another bin. It'll be at the house tomorrow, which means we get to spend the rest of the week throwing out old drywall (and trying to rip down more to ensure the bin is filled!)
